ARMANI COLLEZIONI
Born in Piacenza, Italy in 1934, Giorgio Armani is one of the most celebrated and influential designers Italy has ever produced.
Armani launched his career as a window dresser at a large Milanese department store, called La Rinascente.
In 1964, armed with an in-depth knowledge of fabric and design, he was taken on as a designer for Nino Cerruti's men's clothing company, Hitman. Posts at Ungaro and Zegna were soon to follow.
In 1974, Armani introduced his own menswear label, his first womenswear collection coming a year later. Giorgio Armani Label was launched in 1975. Armani and fashion have met and it was a happy marriage. Every woman, once she has worn an Armani jacket, remains addicted, about the same extent as a man becomes addicted after driving a Maserati.
Armani achieved his international breakthrough by tailoring for numerous Hollywood names and especially for Richard Gere in the title role of American Gigolo in 1980.
Armani Collezioni was created in 1979. Armani Collezioni occupies a niche between haute couture lines of Giorgio Armani and Armani Privé and contemporary Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans. Armani Collezioni is synonymous with elegancy, exceptional attention to lines and details of products made using the highest quality fabrics.
Giorgio Armani: “My Armani Collezioni collection was made for men and women who need clothes they can wear all day long, no matter whether they work or relax”.
